Feels Like the Old West Again

Each year at this time, we, as a family to back to Nephi, where Glen is from and go to the Rodeo, where real cowboys show their skills.  Surrounded by the modern world, we are taken back in time. Our connection to the days when Grandpa Hansen and Grandpa Davis rode and broke horses seems closer. You imagine Grandpa Hansen sleeping with his saddle as a pillow, chasing calves, and working horses. It is a part of our heritage. We can pass those feelings down to the littlest grandchildren who experience the excitement of it all.

God's creations.

Lucky photographs. Moments caught to remember forever.  If I tried to create anything this beautiful, I could not. God's hands and have provided beauty for us beyond our imaginations.

Celestial insights. I am always in awe at the sight of the moon. I took the liberty of adding a quote from Elder Neal A Maxwell to one of the pictures I took of the moon

Flowers are Gifts from Heaven. They are to enjoy just because they exist.

These pictures were taken at the Church Office Plaza gardens. If you love flowers, you can find beautiful arrangements of all kinds of flowers. It truely is a little bit of heaven on earth.

More Fun Pictures of birds

This is a Kesler Falcon on the right and below. They are some of the prettiest falcons I think I have seen (although I have only seen like two other kinds). We have watched the Paragrine falcon as it flew around the Salt Lake Temple for years, and raised it's family in the next on the Joseph Smith Memorial building. Now we work in a different building, and my opportunities to take pictures from windows at work has gone. But I have my memories. This falcon was taken at Antelope Island.

Sacred Places

This first picture of the Salt Lake Temple was taken on my lunch hour looking up toward the Temple on a noon day walk through the plaza.

The next one was taken just as the sun was come up. It was out my office window. I love that time of the day.

The next picture shows the beautiful blossoming trees on Temple square.

The Simple Things - When you stand still and look around, you actually see

I have noticed that when there are not huge birds, no deer close by, no amazing sunsets, if I just open my eyes I will still see wonderful things. These are a few of those wonderful things

Clouds - I never get tired of the beauty of clouds

Eagles - One of my very favorite birds

Eagles are so majestic, and with their eyes have it all. They look tough, and check out the talons, they are tough. Each year I have been able to take pictures right close to home. Unfortunately now, with all the new homes and trees going down, I fear it will soon come to an end. I will need to find another favorite place.

Antelope Island - Beautiful in it's own way, with wonderful wildlife

I have to admit I have a special love for this unique place. The buffalo, the antelope, the rocks, the dry desert climate. I just do not go when the "no see-ums" (biting gnats) are out.
